Doha, February 10 (QNA) - HE the Prime Minister Sheikh Abdullah bin Nasser bin Khalifa Al-Thani chaired Wednesday the Cabinet's regular weekly meeting at its Emiri Diwan premises.
Following the meeting, HE the Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of State for Cabinet Affairs Ahmed bin Abdullah Al Mahmoud said the Cabinet reviewed topics on the agenda and took a set of decisions and measures.
The Cabinet approved a draft law on the protection of Arabic language.
The draft law provides among its provisions that ministries, official institutions, public educational institutions in all levels of education, and municipalities are committed to use the Arabic language in all that comes out of their systems and instructions, documents, contracts, transactions, correspondence, labels, programs, publications and advertisements. National public universities and institutions of higher education, overseen by the government, are also committed to teach the Arabic language in all science and knowledge.
The Cabinet also approved a proposal by the Ministry of Interior to amend certain provisions of the Cabinet Resolution No. (3) of 2003 establishing a permanent committee to manage Abu Samra port.
The Cabinet approved a draft air services agreement between the Government of the State of Qatar and the Government of the Kyrgyz Republic, and a draft memorandum of cooperation between the Ministry of Transport and Communications in the State of Qatar and the International Maritime Organization (IMO) on the State's involvement in the review plan of the Member States of the Organization.
Meanwhile, the Cabinet reviewed the study which was prepared for the development of the postal sector. This comes within the framework of the development of Qatar Postal Services Company (Q-Post) in order to open field for private investment, encourage competition, and provide universal postal services to individuals and business sectors across the country with high quality and reasonable prices.
The Cabinet also reviewed preview visuals by the Ministry of Interior, The Ministry of Transport and Communications, and Qatar Chamber on the first quarterly report of the committee organizing heavy transport for their actions during the period from January to March 2015.
The committee is specialized to examine all matters relating to heavy transport, in particular the study of ways to organize heavy transport and propose practical and appropriate mechanisms for that, as well as setting rules that work on the localization of heavy transport activity and identifying frameworks and rules of the heavy transport mechanisms in coordination with the concerned authorities.
The report addressed issues that the Committee has studied and the recommendations in has reached during the mentioned period, including the establishment of a database for all owners of heavy transport from individuals, companies and commercial institutions, the registration of transportation and heavy machinery and equipment owned by citizens, and the development of a unified model for contracts to hire heavy transport equipment.
The Cabinet also reviewed a letter by the National Committee on Arms Embargo about the thirty-third report of the Committee's work during the period from 1/9 to 31/12/2015. (QNA)
