Geneva, September 19 (QNA) - The State of Qatar on Monday called to adopt policies of international cooperation based on the revitalization of equitable global partnerships and focus on bridging the gap between developed and developing countries by providing unconditional development aid.
This came in the State of Qatar's speech delivered by Legal Researcher at the Foreign Ministry's Human Rights Department, Noemi Mohammed Al Hajri, before the General Debate under Item (3) on the Report of the Working Group on the Right to Development in the framework of the 33rd Session of the Human Rights Council held on 13-30 September.
Al Hajri thanked the Working Group on the Right to Development, the Office of the High Commissioner for Human Rights on their reports provided to the Human Rights Council during this session, praising the efforts being undertaken by the Working Group in order to reach the final wording of criteria for the realization of the right to development.
Al Hajri said that the right to development as a human right, is a basic pillar for the implementation of the 2030 Agenda for Sustainable Development, which requires its activation and the creation of a suitable environment at national and international levels, through the adoption of legislation, national strategies and plans that ensure everyone's participation in the development process.
Adopting policies for international cooperation based on the revitalization of equitable global partnerships and focusing on bridging the gap between developed and developing countries by providing unconditional development aid as per the priorities and needs of these countries are key elements to achieve such a target, he went on saying.
The State of Qatar adopts a national policy of development based on a clear vision, which is the Qatar National Vision (QNV) 2030 aimed at transforming Qatar into an advanced country by 2030; capable to achieve sustainable development for present and future generations, Al Hajri explained.
Thanks to the implementation of this strategy, the State of Qatar in recent years has made great strides and achieved advanced levels of development in all sectors and it ranks high internationally according to international development indexes, he added.
On the international and regional levels, Al Hajri pointed out that the State of Qatar adopts a foreign policy based on promoting and upgrading international cooperation with all countries and international and regional organizations in order to achieve world peace and contribute to the efforts being exerted to achieve development in various fields.
