Washington, April 19 (QNA) -US President Donald Trump signed a new executive order Tuesday, calling for changes to the temporary work visa program, which US companies usually use for bringing skilled foreign workers into the country.
The executive order directs Departments of Labor, Justice, Homeland Security, and State to prevent fraud and abuse in the immigration system in order to protect US workers, as well as to introduce reforms to ensure that temporary work visas are granted to higher-skilled foreign workers.
The current immigration system gives companies the opportunity to hire people from outside the United States at the expense of Americans, often with low wages, Trump said on the sidelines of the signing of the new executive order.
He also explained that this reform aims to protect jobs in the United States and to enhance the economy. (QNA)
