5 People Killed, 13 Injured in Western Libya

Tripoli, September 26 (QNA) - Five people were killed and 13 others wounded as a result of armed clashes that took place in the city of Al-Zawiya, west of the Libyan capital, Tripoli, last night.

The Libyan Ambulance and Emergency Service said in a statement, broadcast today by the Libyan News Agency (LANA), that it had received distress calls from the residents of the area, but could not move with the increase in the frequency of clashes in which heavy weapons were used, noting that damage was caused to one of the houses as a result of the clashes.

For its part, the United Nations Mission in Libya expressed, in a statement, its deep concern over the armed clashes and condemned the use of heavy weapons in densely populated neighborhoods. It reiterated the call for unconditional protection of civilians.
