Madrid, November 06 (QNA) - The international conference on Andalusian cultural heritage began today in Granada, Spain, with historians and academics participating to highlight the historical significance of Al Andalus and discuss ways to revive its legacy.
This two-day conference is organized by the ICESCO Chair for Alliance of Civilizations at the College of Sharia and Islamic Studies at Qatar University in cooperation with the Quality and Sustainable Development Foundation, the Arab-European Graduate Studies Foundation, the Qatar Committee for Alliance of Civilizations at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, the Islamic World Educational, Scientific and Cultural Organization (ICESCO), the Sharia and Islamic Studies Journal at Kuwait University, the International Institute of Islamic Thought, and the Institute of Philosophical Studies in Europe, Brussels.
Secretary-General of the Qatar Committee for the Alliance of Civilizations at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs Ambassador Abdullah bin Ahmed Al Sada said that this conference is held amidst rapid global transformations in political, economic, environmental, and scientific spheres, which call for the remembrance and revival of the Andalusian cultural heritage that endowed human history with values of cooperation among nations, peoples, and religions, as well as numerous insights and technologies to confront various challenges.
He explained that this conference aligns with the overarching goal of Qatar's Committee for the Alliance of Civilizations in the realm of cultural diplomacy, emphasizing that Qatar's strategy for achieving an alliance of civilizations underscores the promotion of intercultural dialogue and the significance of Islamic cultural heritage, which has provided humanity with a distinguished model in construction, urban development, and scientific and intellectual advancement.
The ambassador expressed his hope that the conference would produce constructive and practical recommendations that would highlight the remarkable achievements of Andalusian civilization in fields of knowledge, arts, and sciences, adding that the conference will enhance and develop Arab-Spanish relations in various political, economic, commercial, cultural, and scientific areas.
Speakers from Qatar, Kuwait, Oman, Spain, the United States, Canada, India, Kenya, Jordan, Morocco, Algeria, Iraq, and Turkiye are participating in various sessions throughout the conference. (QNA)
