Injured Captain Bilal Ruled Out of Gulf Cup Semi-final
Riyadh, November 20 (QNA) - Qatar national football team received a blow ahead of their Gulf Cup semi-final on Sunday with captain Bilal Mohammed ruled out due to injury.
Medical test confirmed the Maroon's captain has a strained groin muscle.
Qatar coach Djamel Belmadi replaced the centre-back with Mohammed Musa in the 73rd minute after the captain complained of abdominal pain during the match against Bahrain. The Group A match ended in a goalless draw at King Fahd International Stadium on Wednesday.
He will be the second key player Qatar will miss on Sunday. Ahmed Abdel-Masood is suspended after receiving a second yellow card in the match against Bahrain.
Qatar finished the group stage with three points after drawing all games.
Saudi Arabia topped the group with seven points after defeating Yemen 1-0. Yemen and Bahrain ended their campaign with two points each. (QNA)
