Doha, June 11 (QNA) - Qatar Museums (QM) on Friday hosted the Qatar Creates - Teen Council Expo, an event focused on making the voices of youth heard and supporting their meaningful participation in developing teen-led initiatives through creative ideas and collaboration with like-minded individuals.
HE QM Chairperson Sheikha Al Mayassa bint Hamad Al-Thani attended the opening ceremony.
Addressing more than 1,000 youth at the Qatar Creates - Teen Council Expo, HE QM Chairperson Sheikha Al Mayassa bint Hamad Al-Thani described the Qatar Creates Teen Council as a platform supporting the active participation of youth towards a sustainable future.
The council was established to bring together youth to collaborate in planning events and initiatives for other teenagers in Qatar.
"Young people are our future, which is why we are delighted to be holding the Qatar Creates - Teen Council Expo," HE Sheikha Al Mayassa said. "Our new initiative, Qatar Creates Teen Council, will bring together young people who want to take part in Qatar's cultural life by engaging in Qatar Museums' future endeavours, and create a place for youth to gather, collaborate and plan events for teenagers from all over the country." "We are excited to hear from you to create and bring your ideas to life," she said. "We look forward to welcoming you, so I encourage you to sign up!" The expo also focused on introducing youth to the wealth of cultural offerings and volunteering opportunities available across Qatar during the FIFA World Cup Qatar 2022 and beyond.
Information booths set up by Qatar Museums along with the Doha Film Institute (DFI), Music Lab, Generation Amazing, and Ajyal Educational provided details on the different ways youth can contribute towards cultural initiatives based on their individual interests and passions.
Qatar Museums' Teen Volunteering Program offers youth the opportunity to work under the guidance of museum staff, learning invaluable life skills while strengthening their independence and boosting self-confidence.
Volunteering options for the Qatar Museums' Teen Volunteering Program include working as a visitor guide, museum guide, information desk officer, monitoring and evaluation assistant, or providing programming and visitor services and events support.
Youth can volunteer at one or more institutions across Qatar Museums' network: the National Museum of Qatar (NMoQ), 3-2-1 Qatar Olympic Sports Museum, the Museum of Islamic Art & MIA Park, Mathaf: Arab Museum of Modern Art, the Fire Station: Artist in Residence, DADU, Children's Museum of Qatar, Liwan Design Studios and Labs, M7 Creative Hub, and Learning & Outreach - Exhibitions.
