Nuku'alofa, June 13 (QNA) - An earthquake measuring 4.9 on the Richter scale struck off the island of Iowa, located in Tonga in the Pacific Ocean.
According to the US Geological Survey, the epicenter occurred 187 kilometers from the island's Ohonua area and at a depth of 10 kilometers.
No human or material damage has been reported as a result of the earthquake.
A 5-magnitude earthquake struck on June 6 off the coast of Tonga at a depth of 10 kilometers.
Tonga, an archipelago of 176 scattered islands, of which only 52 are inhabited in the South Pacific, extends about 800 km from north to south, and is located about one third of the distance between New Zealand and Hawaii. (QNA)
