QTF Junior Open Tournament Kicks Off


Doha, June 13 (QNA) - Qatar Tennis Federation Junior Open Tournament (boys and girls) kicked off today on the courts of the Khalifa International Tennis and Squash Complex, with the participation of about 150 players, including the national teams.
Male and female players will compete in different age groups included in the tournament competitions, including boys under 14, 18 and under 10 years old, and girls under 12, 10 and 18 years old.
This tournament is held by the consolation system, where the player continues to play matches until he/she is defeated twice.
Board member of Qatar Tennis, Squash and Badminton Federation Khalid Al Khelaifi said in a comment that this prestigious tournament represents an opportunity for tennis lovers inside the country to participate in it and practice their favorite sport, as it constitutes a platform for Qatar national team players to develop their performance and maintain their technical and physical readiness.
Al Khelaifi added that the federation continues to organize this local tournament with the aim of increasing the popularity of the game in Qatar and spreading it among members of society, noting that the current version witnessed a great turnout by players to participate in it. (QNA)
