  • Palestine

Nicosia, June 14 (QNA) - Palestinian President Mahmoud Abbas warned that the Palestinian leadership will have to take the necessary legal measures to protect the interests of the Palestinian people and put an end to the crimes of the occupation forces in the absence of a political horizon.
During a joint press conference with his Cypriot counterpart, Nicos Anastasiades, in Nicosia today, Abbas noted that the Palestinian side will continue to make contacts in order to mobilize international support to confront the serious challenges the Palestinian people are going through, as a result of Israeli violations, and to take deterrent measures against the Israeli entity.
He noted that the Palestinian side will remain ready to engage in any peace efforts or initiatives based on international legitimacy, leading to the establishment of peace, security and stability for all in the region, and achieving the end of the occupation of the State of Palestine with East Jerusalem as its capital.
Meanwhile, President Abbas stressed the importance of continuing the political and economic support provided by the European Union to create stability and security, and improve the economic conditions of the Palestinian people.
The European Union had announced earlier in the day, the resumption of financial support to Palestine after a two-year hiatus.
The Palestinian President arrived in Cyprus yesterday on a three-day official visit. (QNA)
