MOEHE Celebrates Graduation of First Batch of QSTSS

Doha, June 13 (QNA) - The Ministry of Education and Higher Education (MOEHE) celebrated Monday evening the graduation of the first batch of students from Qatar Science and Technology Secondary School for Boys (QSTSS), consisting of 59 students for the academic year 2021/2022 of the grade 12 students.
HE Minister of Education and Higher Education Buthaina bint Ali Al Jabr Al Nuaimi handed the graduation certificates in presence of HE Undersecretary of the Ministry of Education and Higher Education Dr. Ibrahim bin Saleh Al Nuaimi, ministry's senior officials, representatives of the school's supporting bodies - namely ExxonMobil Qatar and Qatar Development Bank (QDB), the school's administrative and academic body along with the students' parents.
All graduates have been accepted by the most prestigious - local and international - universities in scientific disciplines, noting that most of the students have been accepted in more than one university, which confirms the quality and competitiveness of the school's outputs.
In a statement to Qatar News Agency (QNA), HE Dr. Al Nuaimi said that the establishment of a national university for science and technology, as well as a secondary school for science and technology for boys, undoubtedly confirms the country's great interest in technical and applied education, and its focus on the disciplines that it needs towards further development, progress and sustainable development.
His Excellency pointed out that QSTSS is a pioneering and distinguished model in Qatar, and a source of pride for everyone in terms of its teaching methods and the integrated education curriculum that it applies in science, mathematics and technology subjects.
He stressed that the State of Qatar is constantly counting on its distinguished children, including this first batch of QSTSS graduates, to lead technical and vocational education in the country. He also pointed out that Qatar needs such educational outputs in its distinguished universities and schools, which enjoy all the support, guidance as well as scientific and academic guidance.
Assistant Undersecretary for Educational Affairs at the Ministry of Education and Higher Education Maha Al Ruwaili said that the celebration of this first batch of students from QSTSS is a celebration of success and excellence, and reaping the seeds of excellence and innovation in education in the State of Qatar.
Al Ruwaili, in her speech at the graduation ceremony, underlined how this school has represented - since its establishment in 2018 - one of the important projects to achieve the strategic vision of the state, which is to establish comprehensive educational systems, characterized by flexibility and quality, and consistent with rapid technological innovation and increasing human mobility. She pointed out that the process of implementing an educational system based on integrating science, mathematics, engineering and technology subjects formed an opportunity to crystallize a good vision of education, through which a major step was taken towards systems that look forward to the future and provide quality education for all, as a starting point for achieving the sustainable development goals.
She stressed that QSTSS has succeeded in being a vibrant learning community, and said that learning in it has transcended the limits of acquiring knowledge and mastering skills, to be a methodology for creativity and innovation dealt with by technology, supported by research and data-based.
Al Ruwaili congratulated the students for their success and reaping the fruit of their diligence and perseverance, as much is relied on them and their achievements to achieve Qatar National Vision 2030. 

HE Dr. Abdulaziz Al Horr gave a speech on behalf of the parents, congratulating the graduate students and their families for the students' great achievements, and contrasting the state of academic competition both in the past and currently with millennials, exemplified by the students of QSTSS, and all of the benefits and facilities their school provides.
Dr. Al Horr hailed the school's academic system, especially in its attention to the student, and the relationship of partnership between the school, and students' parents and guardians, which gives birth to the astonishing results of the students, and their acceptance in high-ranking universities locally and internationally.
Al Horr added that this school's success is a success to the State of Qatar that invests in its future generations, calling upon the graduates to be self-reliant in their lives and to always strive for creativity and excellence.
For his part, Mohammed Al Emadi, the school principal, congratulated the graduates of this batch for their excellence, praising their high scores, and their admission to the best universities, encouraging them to continue down the path of hard work and determination.
As for the graduates' speech, it was given by the student Majed Al Suwaidi, highlighting the academic and educational process in the school since its inception, and detailing some of the knowledge, skills, and talent development.
Al Suwaidi said that the success achieved was a result of patience, sacrifice, hard work, responsibility, and the support that the school in its administration and teaching staff provided, calling upon his colleagues to keep up with the good work, for the service of the country and to give back to its people.
QSTSS is a public school that offers a modern curriculum focusing on the sciences, technology, engineering, and mathematics, instructed in the English language, to high achieving male Qatari students. The school was established in 2018 with 60 students compromising the first batch. Moreover, the school includes the grades from grade 9 until the 12th grade and currently has 240 students enrolled.
The mission of the school is to increase the number of Qatari students in the sciences, Mathematic, and engineering specializations, to provide the job market with the professionals needed for a knowledge-based economy, scientific development, and technology, for those professionals to lead their country through the future, achieving the Qatar National Vision 2030.
