FIFA World Cup Qatar 2022 Poster Reflects Image of Qatari, Gulf Heritage

Doha, June 15 (QNA) - Qatari artist Bouthayna Al Muftah, the designer of the FIFA World Cup Qatar 2022 poster, expressed her happiness and pride in participating in the huge sporting event that the State of Qatar will host through her artistic design, which she described as a "big project", especially as it bears her artistic imprint and will be seen by the whole world.
In an exclusive statement to Qatar News Agency (QNA), during the inauguration ceremony of the poster at Hamad International Airport on Wednesday, Al Muftah said that she was inspired by the idea of the poster from the cultural heritage in Qatar in particular, and the Arab Gulf in general, pointing out that she preferred that this heritage be reflected in the process of artistic design of the poster in order to get acquainted with the local legacies, customs and traditions that are rich in their contents and dimensions.
The Qatari artist explained that she was inspired by the word "Hayya", which was included in the FIFA World Cup Qatar 2022 poster, from the cheers of fans in different stadiums, and from the collective voices of fans, adding that this word confirms the passion of the Qatari public for football.
Al Muftah told QNA that the poster shows the "ghutra" and "egal" (traditional headwear) being waved in the air in a celebratory manner during matches, stressing that "Hayya" expresses the extent of the Qatari fans' passion for football in particular and its great interest in various other sports in general.
