Amman, June 15 (QNA) - Jordan's King Abdullah II received the President of the European Commission, Ursula von der Leyen who is currently visiting Jordan.
During the meeting, they discussed regional and international developments, with the Palestinian issue at the forefront, in addition to ways of coordinating the efforts and working in an integrated manner to counter the challenges related to food security, environment and climate change.
King Abdullah II confirmed the robust partnership relations between Jordan and the European Union, and the keenness to continue expanding the cooperation in various fields. He also stressed the need to intensify efforts to find real opportunities to make progress in moving the peace process forward, break the current stalemate, and halt the continuation of the cycle of violence that impacts the security and stability of the region.
For her part, the President of the European Commission confirmed the robust relationships between Jordan and EU and emphasized that EU is commitment to supporting Kingdom of Jordan.
During the period from 2021 to 2027, the European Union has been planning to support three main priorities in Jordan, including good governance, green growth and sustainable economy, human development and employment. EU is also working on disbursing a new package of total financial assistance for Jordan, as the union has transferred two previous payments worth 500 million euros out of 700 million euros. (QNA)
