Turkey Arrests Over 17,411 Immigrants

Ankara, June 19 (QNA) - The Turkish authorities announced today that 17,411 illegal immigrants have been arrested since the beginning of 2022.
Turkish Anadolu Agency (AA) quoted security sources as saying that the Turkish coast guard teams carried out 672 operations to rescue illegal immigrants stranded at sea.
The sources indicated that last year, Turkish Coast Guard teams rescued 19,812 illegal immigrants from drowning, while they recovered the bodies of 144 others.
Turkey's borders with Bulgaria, Greece and Turkish shores are witnessing an increase in the number of illegal immigrants taking the land or sea route in the hope of reaching a European country, and the Turkish police use various methods to prevent infiltration attempts across its borders.(QNA)
