Qatar Partakes in General Assembly of International Bureau of Expositions

Paris, June 20 (QNA) - The State of Qatar participated in the meeting of the 170th General Assembly of the International Bureau of Expositions (BIE), which was held Monday at the Palais des Congres in Paris, France, under the chairmanship of HE President of the BIE General Assembly Choi Jai-chul.
HE Ambassador of the State of Qatar to the French Republic and Permanent Representative to BIE Sheikh Ali bin Jassim Al-Thani chaired the delegation of the State of Qatar at the meeting.
Secretary-General of Expo 2023 Doha Horticulture and Director of the Department of Public Parks at the Ministry of Municipality Mohamed Ali Al Khouri participated in the meeting.
In his speech during the meeting, HE the Ambassador of the State of Qatar to the French Republic reiterated the State of Qatar's commitment to hosting the Expo 2023 Doha Horticulture, stressing that preparations for hosting this event, the first of its kind in the Middle East, are continuing at steady and accelerating steps.
HE the Ambassador explained that the Expo 2023 Doha Horticulture, which will be held under the title "Green Desert, Better Environment," will shed light on the challenges faced by desert countries in the field of desertification, and will constitute a new opportunity to develop agriculture and green cities in Qatar and the Middle East, as well as suggest solutions to promote a thriving green life in the desert, which would inspire visitors through fruitful international cooperation.
He expressed his gratitude to the BIE and the International Association of Horticultural Producers (AIPH) for their continuous support and encouragement, stressing that the State of Qatar seeks to find new ways to build a better and greener tomorrow.
During the meeting, Al Khouri reviewed the latest preparations and ongoing work to organize the Expo 2023 Doha Horticulture on time, stressing that the State of Qatar aims to providing a unique experience for all visitors to the exhibition. (QNA)
