NYT: Bullet That Killed Sherine Abu Aqleh Fired by Israeli Soldier

New York, June 20 (QNA) - A special investigation conducted by the American newspaper 'The New York Times' into the circumstances of the killing of Palestinian journalist Sherine Abu Aqleh has concluded that the bullet that killed her was fired by an Israeli soldier.
The investigation, which was conducted by the American newspaper over the course of a whole month, indicated that the bullet that killed Abu Aqila was fired from a location near a convoy of the Israeli occupation army, and that it was most likely fired by a soldier of the Israeli elite unit.
The investigation added that the evidence reviewed by 'The New York Times' showed that there were no armed Palestinian men near Abu Aqleh when she was shot, which contradicts Israeli claims that a soldier may have killed her by mistake during an exchange of fire with Palestinian gunmen.
The investigation also confirmed that 16 bullets were fired from the site of the Israeli military convoy, which also contradicts Israeli allegations that the soldier fired five shots at the journalists.
Abu Aqleh was assassinated by a bullet while covering the storming of the Jenin refugee camp in the West Bank on May 11 last.
Several news organizations published investigations which concluded that the bullet that killed Shireen was likely fired from an Israeli soldier's rifle, while a CNN report stated that evidences indicated that the shooting was a "targeted attack." (QNA)
