MoCI Organizes Annual Forum For Public Shareholding Companies Listed on Qatar Stock Exchange

Doha, June 21 (QNA) - The Ministry of Commerce and Industry (MoCI) organized the annual forum for public shareholding companies listed on the Qatar Stock Exchange, with the attendance of representatives from Qatar Stock Exchange, Qatar Financial Markets Authority, Qatar Central Securities Depository, and Qatar Association of Certified Public Accountants (IFAC), in addition to owners and representatives of public shareholding companies and a host of entrepreneurs and interested parties, as well as local and international accounting offices and companies operating in the country.
The organization of the forum comes within the framework of the Ministrys commitment to expediting the practice of investment and commercial business across the country, and to offer all means of assistance to the commercial companies, in the pursuit of raising the level of confidence in the Qatari business environment and boosting partnership with the private sector, in the way to achieve Qatar National Vision 2030 in a competitive, diversified and sustainable economy.
The forum highlighted the importance of shareholding companies in the national economy, introducing the most important amendments included in Law No. 8 of 2021 amending some provisions of Commercial Companies Law No. 11 of 2015, updating shareholder data with Qatar Central Depository and Securities Company, and holding general assemblies for public shareholding companies listed electronically pursuant to the provisions of the Commercial Companies Law.
During the forum, MoCI also reviewed the services offered by the shareholding companies listed in the Qatar Stock Exchange, in attempt to upgrade and promote them, in addition to fostering communication means with those companies, including the attendance and supervision of the employees of the Corporate Affairs Department at MoCI of the ordinary and extraordinary general assemblies of public and private joint stock companies.
At the close of the forum, officials in MoCI, Qatar Stock Exchange, Qatar Financial Markets Authority and Qatar Central Securities Depository responded to the enquiries of the attending participants concerning the topics related to the public shareholding companies listed on the Qatar Stock Exchange, their relations between the four entities, and ways of consolidating the cooperation and coordination between them to serve the work of the listed companies and develop their performance in a manner that bolster their role in the economic process.
