/Qatar Economic Forum/ MCIT, IPA Signs MoU with Leading Digital Company

Doha, June 22 (QNA) - The Ministry of Communications and Information Technology (MCIT) and the Investment Promotion Agency Qatar (IPA) signed a memorandum of understanding (MoU) Wednesday with Amazon Web Services, a world leader in cloud computing services, on the sidelines of the Qatar Economic Forum 2022, Powered by Bloomberg held in Doha.
The MoU was signed by MCIT's Assistant Undersecretary of Digital Society Development Reem Mohammed Al Mansoori, HE IPA's CEO Sheikh Ali Alwaleed Al-Thani, and Amazon Web Services' Head of Public Sector for the Middle East Faisal Mian.
The MoU signed between the three parties aims to support the rapid development of the Qatari technology sector by cultivating technological talent in the country through the Amazon Web Services Academy, which provides free ready-made cloud computing programs and skills development programs focusing on machine learning, artificial intelligence, and cloud computing.
The three entities will also work together to launch initiatives to develop the startup ecosystem through Amazon Web Services' programs and share best practices.
Commenting on the MoU, Reem Mohammed Al Mansoori said, MCIT is pleased to lead the efforts of the State of Qatar towards digitalization and rapid technological development.
HE Sheikh Ali bin Alwaleed Al-Thani, CEO of IPA Qatar, said, "We are pleased to be part of this strategic cooperation, which represents a major stepping stone in our journey to bolster the digital transformation in Qatar and unlock the untapped growth potential of the technology and AI sectors. I am confident that this collaboration will nurture new tech talents and further develop the start-up ecosystem in Qatar." "We are excited to work with the Ministry of Communications and Information Technology and Investment Promotion Agency in Qatar to support Qatars digital transformation goal. We look forward to continuing cooperation in Qatar with the public and private sectors to provide programs that will empower local talent and help emerging companies innovate and grow," Faisal Mian, Head of Public Sector for the Middle East at Amazon Web Services, said.
The MoU is part of cooperation with the IPA, which works to achieve the goals of the State of Qatar in expanding opportunities for international companies looking to establish their presence in Qatar and the region or expand their access to it by providing the digital and physical infrastructure ready for the future, and a supportive business environment, with the availability of young and educated talent, which together constitute the most enabling and business-friendly environment in the region.
