Qatar Table Tennis National Team Tops West Asian Championship Medal Table

Amman, August 01 (QNA) - Qatar table tennis national team topped the official medal table at the West Asian Championship currently held in Jordan and runs till Aug. 5 with the participation of 12 countries.
The national team secured 12 medals- six gold, two silver and seven bronze- after the conclusion of singles and doubles competitions.
Qatar Table Tennis Federation President Khalil bin Ahmed Al Mohannadi praised the Qatari team's distinguished results in the championship, noting that the 15 medals were a result of the players' good performance, and an outcome of strenuous efforts that made Qatar win consecutive annual trophies.
Al Mohannadi, also President of Arab and Asian Table Tennis Federations and the First Deputy of the International Table Tennis Federation President, said that the great support provided by the Qatar Olympic Committee for the game and all sports in Qatar contributed to Qatari heroes' achievements in international competitions.
International Table Tennis Federation member Abdullah Youssef Al Mallah said the Qatari table tennis achievement in Jordan was driven by a great teamwork of players, coaches and administrative staff, and came as a result of progressive efforts by all, extending congratulations to the Qatari federation for winning 15 colored medals, stressing that this distinguished achievement assures that the game in Qatar was on the right track.
Al Mallah also extended congratulations to the Jordanian Table Tennis Federation presided by Tarek Al Zoghby on the great success the tournament achieved, noting that Jordan gathered all Arabs in the championship that proved successful on the technical and organizational levels.
Director of Qatari Table Tennis National Teams Khaled Ali Al Kawary expressed delightedness for the national team's victories in the championship, hailing the good performance that made the national team win six final matches in the men's competitions to win six gold medals in men's competitions, while women won two silver medals despite their long absence.
