Palestinian Prime Minister Calls on Israelis to Immediately Release Jerusalem Governor

  • Palestine

Ramallah, August 02 (QNA) - Palestinian Prime Minister Mohammed Shtayyeh condemned on Tuesday the Israeli occupation forces' arrest of the governor of Jerusalem Adnan Ghaith.
In a statement broadcast by the Palestinian news agency (WAFA), Shtayyeh called on the occupation authorities to immediately release governor Ghaith and to stop their violations and racist practices in occupied Jerusalem.
The Palestinian Prime Minister considered the arrest of the governor an extension of systematic policies of restriction practiced by those occupation authorities against the Palestinian people in the holy city, in an absurd attempt Judaize the city and to impose false facts in it.
The occupation forces arrested the Governor of Jerusalem on Monday, after they stormed his house in the town of Silwan, south of occupied Jerusalem, searched it and tampered with its content.
Governor Ghaith is subjected to a campaign of persecution and arrest and prevented from participating in meetings or meeting Palestinian figures, as well as traveling or leaving occupied Jerusalem. He was arrested by the occupation forces more than 17 times since he assumed his position as governor of Jerusalem. He is also barred from entering the West Bank, under the pretext of communicating with the Palestinian leadership. (QNA)
