Tunis, August 02 (QNA) - The Tunisian authorities on Tuesday rescued 64 illegal immigrants of different nationalities who were crossing the eastern coasts of the country towards European shores.
In a statement, the maritime border guards said that these migrants were rescued from drowning after their boat broke down off the island of Kerkennah in the southeast of the country, pointing out that the authorities began investigating the detainees before referring them to the judiciary.
Tunisian security authorities often announce the drowning and rescue of illegal immigrants, whether off its southeastern coast or northeastern coast, which is only 70 kilometers away from the Italian coast. (QNA)
