6 Military Dead in Helicopter Crash Southwest Pakistan

Islamabad, August 02 (QNA) - Six Pakistani military personnel have been killed in a helicopter crash in the Balochistan province, southwest Pakistan.
The Pakistani military said in a statement that six of its members - including a senior officer - have been killed in a helicopter crash. The army aviation helicopter lost contact with air traffic control while helping with flood relief work in Balochistan province. The Pakistani army said that the senior officer among the casualties was the Quetta Corps commander, Lieutenant General Sarfraz Ali.
The Pakistani military pointed out that the helicopter wreckage was found on a mountain in Lasbela district, saying that the cause of the accident is due to bad weather according to preliminary investigations.
The army aviation helicopter was helping with flood relief work in Balochistan province before losing contact with air traffic control on Monday.
Pakistan has been hit hard by floods after unusually heavy monsoon rains. Scores of people have been killed, hundreds of homes have been swept away and large cultivated areas were destroyed. (QNA)
