Doha, August 02 (QNA) - The Qatar Olympic Committee (QOC) officially announced the establishment of Qatar Collegiate Sports Federation (QCSF) during a press conference on Tuesday attended by HE QCSF President Dr. Ibrahim bin Saleh Al Naimi, the QCSF Secretary-General and Head of QOC Public Relations and International Cooperation Rashid Saeed Adiba, along with staff and officials from QOC.
During the press conference, QOC explained that the establishment of Qatar Collegiate Sports Federation aims at promoting sports among male and female students in higher education institutions, by developing its activities and events in accordance with the best international standards and following them up in the field.
QOC added that other objectives also include the organization, coordination and implementation of sports projects, programs and activities among its members, as well as developing sports competition, and discovering talented athletes to raise the level of collegiate sports in the country locally, globally and regionally.
The Board of Directors of the new federation in its first session 2021-2024, includes Dr. Ibrahim bin Saleh Al Naimi as president; Rashid Saeed Adiba as Secretary-General; and the board members: Dr. Salem Nasser Al Naimi, Sheikh Khalifa bin Khaled Al-Thani, Rashid Ali Al Tamimi, Asmaa Mohammed Al Naimi, Hassan Muftah Al Kuwari, Hamad Saleh Al Shaibah, and Safiya Saleh Al Sheeb.
QOC revealed the message, vision and objectives, and founding procedures of Qatar Collegiate Sports Federation.
Dr. Al Nuaimi gave the opening speech at the press conference saying: "Our message is to build up high education institutions that will play a center stage role in the sports at both regional and global levels. Our vision is to build better sport activities for students of higher education institutions, namely, Universities, colleges, institutes in Qatar. We are leaving no stone unturned to discover the most talented students and taking our university sports to a new level of excellence locally, regionally and internationally." "Our key objective is to develop the sport and physical activities at the higher education institutions in a way that could significantly strengthen the sport culture and encourage society individuals and high education students to exercise sports day in day out" added Dr. Al Nuaimi.
"The QCSF is an entity acts as a complementary level to the sport activities being organized at the primary, intermediate and secondary schools throughout Schools Olympic Program," Dr. Al Nuaimi noted.
Dr. Al Nuaimi underlined sport will continue playing a key role in Qatar 2030 National Vision, "We aspire to see Qatar having a leading global sport status by bringing the world together throughout sustainable sport development." "Im truly proud to see our beloved country Qatar having a leading record in hosting the local, continental, and global sport events," concluded Dr. Al Nuaimi.
For his part, the QCSF Secretary General, Rashid Saed Mohammed has delivered a productive presentation on the QCSFs message, vision, objectives. He said that this pioneer federation will spare no effort to discover the most talented students who can support the Qatars national teams and the sport clubs.
In statements to Qatar News Agency (QNA), HE President of Qatar Collegiate Sports Federation Dr. Ibrahim bin Saleh Al Naimi said that the key objective of the establishment of the federation entails the care for the college student, operationalize the sports activities and events within the university campus and spotlight the role of the higher education institutions in developing and upgrading the college students, not only in sports field, but also in terms of health, mentality and psychology, pointing out that all these elements are extremely essential and should never be overlooked; adding that his role in the new federation will be based on dedicating full attention to the promised objectives, because ports offers such remedies, including the preparation of conducive environment for the college students.
He indicated that the attention shall be given to the sports not only for contests, as contests are vital only among the athletes in the local universities, but the most important thing is to upgrade the capabilities of the students athletes to participate with national teams externally, and this is a major requirement for us in the federation, he said.
Dr. Al Naimi pointed out that there are students who are unable to attain the level of sports competition, and consequently they should get the care to be in In the level of health and physical fitness required, and through the federation, communication with the relevant authorities will be made to activate this role, indicating that other national federations in various sports are interested in offering the opportunity for students in general to compete in sports at the university level, especially since among these students are sports materials.
He elucidated that the federations role in dealing with the cases of some well-known athletes who reach the university study stage and are forced to stop practicing sports for several reasons related to being busy with studies, and the importance of dealing with their cases "We have a vision on this matter by taking care of these students, studying their cases and motivating them. To return to their sports by facilitating their affairs in reconciling study and playing sports, and even encouraging them in other ways, including reducing tuition fees in the context of motivating them" he said.
QCSF President concluded his speech by confirming the existence of communication with the rest of the federations locally, regionally and internationally with the objective of introducing the Federation, and also to join the membership of these various federations, and to participate in various events and tournaments.
For his part, Secretary-General of QCSF Rashid Saeed Odaiba explained, in a similar statement to (QNA), that an introductory presentation was given about QCSF after the endorsement of the statute, which includes the objectives, competencies, mission and vision of the federation in accordance with the strategy of the Qatar Olympic Committee and Qatar Vision 2030, through the terms of reference for the exercise of the activities of the Federation in general.
