  • Turkey

Ankara, August 03 (QNA) - Turkey says it deported 9000 foreign militants of 102 different nationalities since 2011. A statement issued by the Directorate of Migration Management of the Ministry of Interior said on Tuesday that since the Syrian civil war started in 2011, many foreigners tried to join ISIS and PKK, seeking to move to Syria through Turkey. The ministry explained that Turkish authorities arrested thousands of them and applied legal procedures.
Turkey calls the people who travelled outside their countries' borders and joined the ranks of ISIS "foreign terrorist fighters".
Turkish Minister of Interior Suleyman Soylu had earlier said his country would deport ISIS fighters it arrested in Syria to their countries. (QNA)
