Taipei, August 03 (QNA) - Taiwan's President Tsai Ing-wen met on Wednesday US House Speaker Nancy Pelosi.
During the meeting, Tsai said that she was committed to working with the US over security in the Taiwan straits and the wider Indo-Pacific region.
During a press conference after meeting Tsai, Pelosi said "In our bilateral meeting, we discussed key opportunities to deepen our partnership: upholding democracy and human rights and respect the individual."
Three areas were discussed during the meeting security, economy, governance, she said.
Pelosi arrived in Taiwan on Tuesday heading a congressional delegation on an Asian tour, amid Chinese condemnation of the visit. (QNA)
