Doha, September 12 (QNA) - Under the patronage of HH the Amir Sheikh Tamim bin Hamad Al-Thani, the Ministry of Education and Higher Education announced the launch of the 16th Edition of Scientific Excellence Award, under the slogan "With Excellence We Build Generations".
In a press conference held Monday, CEO of the Scientific Excellence Award and Acting Assistant Undersecretary for Shared Services Affairs Ali Abdullah Al Buainain reviewed the award goals and its categories, including the participation and the prerequisites of submitting the applications, starting on Tuesday, and receiving the applications electronically.
He pointed out the successes made during its previous editions, including the upgrading modifications made on its criteria for various categories, phases of the events of the 16th edition, including the honoring ceremony for the winners which is due to be held in March. He added that among these activities a special award exhibition will be held from Feb. 1 to March 10, 2023, noting that a change has been made in some criteria including the categories of both primary and secondary schools and the excellent school, where some criteria have been thoroughly studied and upgraded, in addition to entering some modifications on some of them.
Speaking to Qatar News Agency (QNA) Ali Abdullah Al Buainain said that the organizing committee will hold a training workshop, where chairmen of the ad hoc committees will provide presentations on Tuesday and Wednesday, combined with ample explanations for each category to be presented by the chairman of the committee, clarifying that the new thing in this edition is the provision of the opportunity for any student or attendee who seeks excellence and looking forward to applying for the award, and wants to enquire about the aspects that he wants to know about the award and the aspects related to it through office times that will be determined later for this purpose.
The 16th edition of the Education Excellence Day Award is a continuation for the successes and the process of excellence achieved by previous editions, which means the essential preservation for the what has been accomplished in pursuit of persistently developing them, he pointed out, specially that the award had a wide echo in the society, including the wide participation of students of the state of Qatar abroad, calling on those who are willing to participate to essentially submit their applications starting on Tuesday Sep. 13, 2022, reminding that the organizing committee has determined a number of social media platforms for those who are willing to participate in the category of nine award, notably the scientific excellence awards for primary and preparatory students, scientific excellence awards for secondary certificate students, scientific excellence awards for postgraduate students, premium scientific research, premium teacher, holders of Master and PhD degrees and the premium schools.
Speaking at the forum, the director of the public relations and communications department at the Ministry of Education and Higher Education Omar Al Yafei revealed the general goals of the award and the wide demands for public participation, in addition to the methods of application for its various nine categories.
The increasing interest in the Scientific Excellence Award, which was launched by the Ministry of Education and Higher Education in 2006, the patronage of HH the Amir Sheikh Tamim bin Hamad Al-Thani, and the wide and growing participation in each edition underscores that Qatar focuses on human as the foundation for the society development, because of the human's role in implementing Qatar National Vision 2030 through human development as one of the four pillars of this vision, which implies that investment in the Qatari human via the quality of education and scientific excellence is a strategic option to advance the country in a conscious and premium society armed with knowledge and science.
The Scientific Excellence Award is one of the educational system's pillars in the State of Qatar and represents one of the tracks that primarily enhances creation and innovation for the students of educational institutions, specially that they aim to deepen the concepts of excellence and innovation through adopting the global standards in this regard, implementing paradigm programs, achieving the individual and institutional integrated efforts to optimize the outputs of the educational process in the state, honoring and appreciating the scientific excels from the sons and daughters of the State of Qatar and deepening the concepts of excellence, encouraging the entire individuals and educational institutions to further upgrade their performance, fostering the positive orientations toward knowledge and scientific research, instilling the spirit of innovation in the hearts of students, researchers and educational institutions, raising the spirit of competition between individuals and educational institutions in the field of scientific excellence, as well as directing individual and institutional energies towards scientific excellence in areas that serve the achievement of Qatar's development orientations.
