DIC Launches 6th Edition of Idea Camp

Doha, September 14 (QNA) - The Digital Incubation Center (DIC) of the Ministry of Communications and Information Technology launched the sixth edition of Idea Camp (IdeaCamp6), in the presence of a number of representatives of the DIC partners from state institutions, the digital entrepreneurship community in Qatar and abroad, and entrepreneurs with promising ideas, who were selected to participate in the six-week camp.

DIC Acting Manager Duha Al Buhendi said that the sixth edition of Ideas Camp comes in line with the incubator's vision to support the needs of entrepreneurs in Qatar and qualify them, to make keep up with all challenges, noting that this year's edition was very popular with registered entrepreneurs, as the number of registration applications exceeded 270, and 150 applications were accepted.

On the sidelines of the opening ceremony, the winners of the programming camp, which was held in early August, were honored with cash prizes of QR 25,000 for each of the four teams.

It is worth mentioning that the creative ideas camps workshops and events are scheduled to continue until the end of next October, after which 40 emerging ideas will be selected to compete on the day of project presentation before a specialized jury.

25 winning ideas will receive the support and guidance of the digital business incubator throughout the incubation period, office space for two years, and a package of free digital services such as the Oracle cloud services, Amazon Web services and the Adobe suite of programs.

The first three winners will receive valuable cash prizes, totaling QR 300,000.

Since its founding in 2011, DIC aimed to create a supportive environment for digital entrepreneurs in the State of Qatar.

Through its strategic partnerships, DIC seeks to raise the level of digital entrepreneurship in Qatar, and empowering a promising generation of innovative ideas capable of harnessing emerging technology to overcome contemporary challenges.
