Somali Army Announces Killing of 35 Al-Shabab Militants

Mogadishu, September 17 (QNA) - The Somali National Army announced today the killing of 35 members of the armed Al-Shabaab militia in a military operation that took place in areas of Hiran region in Hirshabelle State in central Somalia.
Somali National News Agency (SONNA) quoted senior officers of the armed forces as saying that armed cells were subjected to painful strikes that resulted in deaths and injuries in the Aburi area, adding that the operation achieved the desired goal.
Meanwhile SONNA reported that the National Armed Forces had killed 150 militants from the Al-Shabaab militia during military operations in the past weeks.
The Agency quoted a statement by the Somali Information Ministry as calling on the militants to surrender to the federal government and to benefit from a general amnesty.
It said that a great popular resistance was launched from several areas in central Somalia in a move to eradicate the militants who threaten the local population.(QNA)
