Kyiv, September 19 (QNA) - The Ukrainian authorities announced today the exhumation of 146 bodies from the mass grave that was found near the city of Izyum in the Kharkiv region in the northeast of the country.

The head of the regional military administration in the Kharkiv region Oleh Sinihopov, was quoted by the Ukrainian National News Agency (Yukinform) as saying that most of the bodies were civilians, including two children, adding that some of the dead showed signs of "violent death".

The Ukrainian official stated that "there are bodies with their hands tied. Among the dead were injuries caused by mine explosions, shrapnel and stab wounds." Last Friday, the Ukrainian authorities announced the discovery of a mass grave in a forest on the outskirts of Izyum.

The European Union demanded the establishment of an international war crimes tribunal, after hundreds of bodies were found in mass graves near the city of Izyum in eastern Ukraine after they were recovered from Russian forces.
