New York, September 21 (QNA) - HE Adviser to the Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign Affairs and Spokesperson for the Ministry of Foreign Affairs Dr. Majed bin Mohammed Al Ansari underlined that the speech delivered by HH the Amir Sheikh Tamim bin Hamad Al-Thani during the 77th session of the United Nations General Assembly was a roadmap to confront the challenges the world is currently facing.
In a statement to Qatar News Agency (QNA), HE Dr. Al Ansari said that this roadmap started with a clear statement from HH the Amir that today's world was a global village where the world's "concerns and causes are overlapping and intertwining." As a result, small and medium countries have to avoid depending solely upon great powers, particularly when it came to communicating with one another to achieve public interest and jointly face challenges.
Dr. Al Ansari added that HH the Amir stressed the necessity to resolve crises through peaceful means, most notably the war in Ukraine, and the necessity for the international community to shoulder its responsibilities regarding the Palestinian cause and finding a just solution for the Palestinian people, as well as the necessity for Iran and Western countries to find a fair and satisfactory agreement for all parties, and that that the political elites in Iraq, Lebanon, and Sudan must ascend to achieve the aspirations of their peoples, in addition to the importance of not letting the Syrian people down by turning a blind eye to the crimes committed against them and that these crimes should not go unpunished, noting that all these political issues were of great prominence in HH the Amir's speech.
He added that HH the Amir's speech also focused on the global energy crisis where His Highness affirmed that the crisis is ongoing as a result of the international community's lacking response to the urgency of providing safe solutions to energy and the diversification of energy sources, and that the future should include hydrocarbon sources in addition to renewable sources.
In conclusion to his statement to QNA, HE the Adviser to the Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign Affairs and Spokesperson for the Ministry of Foreign Affairs said that HH the Amir concluded the speech with the FIFA World Cup Qatar 2022, noting that it represents a bright spot for the small and medium states' assuming responsibility and taking on global roles as Qatar did. He added that it will be an opportunity for dialogue, and an open invitation for all people to attend the World Cup in Qatar, to enjoy football first and foremost and then to get to know the State of Qatar's economic and cultural developments.
