Arab League Stresses Keenness to Enhance Further Comprehensive, Sustainable Peace-building Processes

Cairo, September 20 (QNA) - The Arab League affirmed Tuesday its keenness to promote the most comprehensive and sustainable peace-building processes, and its continuation to support the peace, security and development process and its sustainability in all parts of the Arab world.
The Arab League General Secretariat said in a statement on the occasion of the International Day of Peace, celebrated Sep. 21 annually, that it is working in partnership with the United Nations Liaison Office to the League of Arab States and with the support of the United Nations Population Fund and UN bodies, to develop the first Arab regional strategy for youth, peace and security as an important future step to advance the peace and security agenda in the Arab region, and to promote and sustain dialogue and peace in the region by ensuring the active civil and political participation of youth in decision-making, including their participation in all peace efforts, and in the broad dissemination of a culture of non-violence and the values of dialogue and citizenship.
The statement added that the Arab League works in partnership with the UN bodies to promote both the women, peace and security agenda, as well as youth, peace and security, to highlight the pivotal role of women and youth in supporting more inclusive peace and security processes. This aims to ensure the sustainability of peace, address the challenges they face, and mainstream a social perspective during all phases of peacebuilding processes.
The Arab League reiterated its commitment to exert more effort and support the joint Arab action, which would activate the participation of all parties in efforts to build and sustain peace without exclusion or discrimination, while exerting more effort to support the peace process, unity and reconciliation, and spread the culture of peace and non-violence in all circles, and working for a world free of racism and discrimination.
