Doha, September 22 (QNA) - The United Nations Educational, Scientific and Cultural Organization (UNESCO) Representative for the Gulf States and Yemen and Director of the UNESCO Regional Office in Doha, Salah El Din Zaki Khaled, praised the role played by Qatar Social Work Foundation in supporting education programs.
The representative of UNESCO expressed his aspiration to enhance cooperation and partnership in comprehensive education and education programs between UNESCO and the Foundation.
This came on the sidelines of the introductory forum organized by Qatar Social Work Foundation of the Ministry of Social Development and Family to introduce the activities and events of the Foundation and its affiliated centers, in the presence of a number of Their Excellencies ambassadors accredited to the state.
On the sidelines of the forum, Qatar Social Work Foundation signed an agreement with UNESCO to cooperate in the areas of social and human development, inclusive education policies and practices, and the empowerment of women and youth.
The agreement enhances the Foundations role in monitoring social issues to enable it to be a supporter and advocate for the social sector in Qatar by activating institutional partnerships, creating a strong new institutional culture capable of confronting and managing crises efficiently and effectively through its membership in cultural conventions and committees, and strengthening the role of the UNESCO office, in addition to introducing the diplomatic sector to social work in the State of Qatar, strengthening the principle of partnerships and exchanging experiences between countries to enhance social work practices globally.
In statements to Qatar News Agency (QNA), the CEO of Qatar Social Work Foundation Ahmed bin Mohammed Al-Kuwari, stressed that the aim of the event is to provide the best services to the target groups of the Foundation and the centers, and to enhance cooperation with embassies and international organizations, and this cooperation is of great importance to achieve the goals of the Foundation and its centers on the one hand, and to achieve the national development goals included in Qatar National Vision 2030 on the other hand, as cooperation, building partnerships, and advocating the issues of the target groups are among the strategic pillars guiding the work of the Foundation.
Al-Kuwari noted that the Foundation is keen on development and excellence in providing the best services and empowering its members and integrating them into society, as well as its role in monitoring social issues, which enabled it to be a supporter and advocate for the social sector in Qatar through activating institutional partnerships, and creating a new strong institutional culture capable of facing crisis efficiently and effectively, noting that the programs and projects of Qatar Social Work Foundation constitute a mainstay in the development plans of the State of Qatar.
In this context, the Executive Director of Shafallah Center for Persons with Disabilities Laalei Abu Alfain, confirmed in similar statements to (QNA) that Shafallah Center is preparing a new integrated strategy, pointing out that the center promotes the integration of people with disabilities into society and their sports, cultural and social participation according to their cases, and partnerships are made to train and employ them in cooperation with several parties.
She indicated that the center has two operational headquarters, and new headquarters will be opened, in line with international standards appropriate for persons with disabilities. (QNA)
