United Nations: The State of Qatar Participates in Ministerial Meeting of Least Developed Countries

New York, September 23 (QNA) - The State of Qatar participated in the annual ministerial meeting of the Least Developed Countries, on the sidelines of the 77th session of the United Nations General Assembly in New York.
The State of Qatar was represented in the meeting by HE Minister of State for Foreign Affairs Sultan bin Saad Al Muraikhi.
In the statement of the State of Qatar to the meeting, His Excellency explained that the Doha Programme of Action for the Least Developed Countries for the decade 2022-2031 is of great importance and was the result of concerted efforts and the constructive participation of various parties and partners.
And he indicated that the international community, by adopting the Doha Programme of Action, sent a clear signal to the least developed countries and their people of their commitment to support them in their endeavors to build their capacities, advance their development, help them address existing challenges and overlapping crises, recover from the pandemic, and build more prosperous, inclusive and resilient societies and economies. He added that the second part of the Fifth United Nations Conference on the Least Developed Countries is only a few months away, adding that the State of Qatar was proud to host in Doha during from March 5-9, 2023.
He added that the meeting will present a once-in-a-decade opportunity to affirm political will and redouble efforts to transform the Doha Programme of Action, and important tools and measures, and translate them into concrete and sustainable actions.
His Excellency expressed his confidence that the conference will crown the efforts and many and lead to the announcement of global initiatives and partnerships that lead to investing in the rich opportunities in least developed countries, and meeting their aspirations towards achieving the desired progress in their economic, social and human development.
He pointed out that the State of Qatar has always been a true strategic partner in responding to needs and challenges, and has a proven track record in the field of partnership and cooperation, all of which constitute a cornerstone of Qatar's policy, and that the country has undertaken many initiatives and efforts in this field.
He added that the State of Qatar's vision on the importance of teamwork and cooperation requires the country to work tirelessly to ensure the success of the second part of the Fifth United Nations Conference on the Least Developed Countries.
His Excellency pointed out that the State of Qatar will continue to make all efforts to make this conference a milestone that lives up to the aspirations and hopes placed in it, pointing out that it is working closely with the presidency of the Least Developed Countries Group and the Office of the High Representative for the Least Developed Countries, Landlocked Developing Countries and Small Island Developing States.
