United Nations: The State of Qatar Participates in Luncheon Banquet on Doha Programme of Action for the Least Developed Countries

New York, September 23 (QNA) - The State of Qatar participated in the high-level luncheon banquet on the Doha Programme of Action for the Least Developed Countries on establishing partnerships for the implementation of the program, on the sidelines of the 77th session of the United Nations General Assembly in New York.
The State of Qatar was represented in the meeting by HE Minister of State for Foreign Affairs Sultan bin Saad Al Muraikhi.
In his speech, His Excellency indicated that the least developed countries are making unremitting efforts to overcome the enormous burdens that the Coronavirus pandemic, the climate crisis, and other unprecedented challenges posed to them. His Excellency added that adopting the Doha Programme of Action for the Least Developed Countries was an important step forward during the first part of the Fifth United Nations Conference on the Least Developed Countries that took place in March this year. His Excellency added that Qatar was pleased with the positive momentum in the first conference, which should the priority assigned to issues related to Least Developed Countries. He explained that the new phase that began with the adoption of the Doha Programme of Action for the Least Developed Countries confirms that our collective success in this endeavor lies in the effective full implementation of this program by all partners and stakeholders.
He added that the State of Qatar was looking forward to host the second part of the Fifth United Nations Conference on the Least Developed Countries in Doha during from March 5-9, 2023, noting the conference will present a unique opportunity for cooperation and multilateral work to support Least Developed Countries and build more prosperous and inclusive societies and economies.
His Excellency reiterated the Doha Programme of Action's focus on strengthening global and comprehensive partnerships that effectively meet the special needs of the least developed countries, thus contributing to supporting prosperity, partnership and sustainable development for all.
His Excellency affirmed that the State of Qatar will continue its contribution as a strategic partner in meeting different needs and challenges, adding that the country was pleased to continue preparing to host an effective second part of the Fifth United Nations Conference on the Least Developed Countries.
