4.5 Magnitude Earthquake Jolts Japanese Ibaraki Prefecture, No Injuries Reported

Tokyo, September 23 (QNA) - An earthquake measuring 4.5 on the Richter scale struck today, Ibaraki Prefecture, Japan.
According to the Japanese authorities, the tremor hit the southern side of Ibaraki Prefecture for a short period, but gave no reports of injuries or damage so far.
Japan is located at the meeting point of four tectonic plates, which makes it particularly vulnerable to seismic activity, and is also home to 100 active volcanoes.
An earthquake in 2011, with a magnitude of nine on the Richter scale, and a tsunami, killed more than 15,000 people, and caused a disaster at the Japanese Fukushima nuclear plant.(QNA)
