Rabat, November 22 (QNA) - The 9th United Nations Alliance of Civilizations (UNAOC) Global Forum kicked off Tuesday in Fez of Kingdom of Morocco under the theme: "Towards An Alliance of Peace: Living Together as One Humanity" with the participation of the Secretary-General of the United Nations Antonio Guterres, High Representative for the United Nations Alliance of Civilizations (UNAOC) Miguel Angel Moratinos, along with a host of senior political dignitaries who represent various countries.
The two-day forum aims to promote dialogue and cooperation among a wide range of communities, cultures and civilizations and extend the bridges in pursuit of unifying peoples away from their cultural or religious diversities through developing a set of concrete measures with the intention of avoiding conflicts and build peace instead.
The forum discusses the combating of extremism, the central role of education, women's role as mediator and peacemaker, combating religious xenophobia, promote the role of sports as means of achieving peace and integration, as well as unifying the speech on immigration.
The 9th UNAOC should have been organized in 2020, to be co-sponsored by Spain and Turkey, however, it was deferred due to the global situation arising from the spread of COVID-19 pandemic. (QNA)
