Egyptian-Jordanian-Palestinian Summit Calls for International Protection for Palestinian People

Cairo, January 17 (QNA) - The Egyptian-Jordanian-Palestinian Summit, held Tuesday in Cairo, stressed the necessity of providing international protection for the Palestinian people and concerting efforts to find a real political horizon that re-launches serious and effective negotiations to solve the Palestinian cause based on the two-state solution.

The final communique of the summit - in which Egyptian President Abdel Fattah El Sisi, Jordanian King Abdullah II, and Palestinian President Mahmoud Abbas participated - stressed the importance of protecting the legitimate Palestinian rights and the continuation of joint efforts to achieve comprehensive, just, and permanent peace based on the two-state solution that embodies independent and sovereign Palestinian state on the 1967 borders, with East Jerusalem as its capital according to international law, the resolutions of the international legitimacy, and the Arab Peace Initiative.

The summit also stressed the necessity for the halt of all of Israel's unilateral measures that underminethe two-state solution and the chance for a just and comprehensive peace, including settlement, confiscation of Palestinian lands, demolition of Palestinian houses, displacement of Palestinians from their homes, the continuous incursions into Palestinian cities, and violation of the historical and legal status quo in Jerusalem and its sanctities.
