Katara International Arabian Horses Festival has occupied special place among similar festivals worldwide, and received a major international interest with increasing requests for participation in competitions, said Chairman of the KIAHF Organizing Committee and Katara General Manager Prof. Dr. Khalid bin Ibrahim Al Sulaiti.
He added that KIAHF preferred to dedicate wide spaces for the events accompanying such an event to further encompass cultural aspects, and encourage Equestrian horse breeding to include Arabic poetry in pursuit of connecting creativity in poems with the purebred Arabian horses to preserve the legacy of pre-Islamic poetry. He added that the Pre-Islamic poetry was creatively describing the Arabian horse and its beauty, and excelled in reminding its originality and speed, along with its superiority over its counterparts from the horses of other non-Arab regions.
The previous two versions of the festival were keen to connect the Arabian horse with plastic arts, where 21 plastic artists had participated and inspired the beauty of the Arabian horse and portrayed it in 106 artistic paints, Al Sulaiti pointed out.
For his part, the general supervisor of the Al Safinat Poet Award Khaled Abdel-Rahim Al Sayed said the award is actually a qualitative addition, and all poetry legacies since the era of Pre-Islamic poets, and until this day have been confined to the description of horse within other contexts.
Speaking to Qatar News Agency (QNA), general supervisor of Al Safinat Poet Award Khaled Abdul Rahim Al Sayed said that there are huge turnouts from a number of Arab countries to participate in the event, adding that the award will be allocated annually.
He said that the turnouts from gulf states are reasonable due to the close proximity, and many participations from Yemen, Iraq, Jordan, Egypt and Sudan have been registered. (QNA)
