Jeddah, January 22 (QNA) - The Organisation of Islamic Cooperation (OIC) expressed deep concern about the difficult social, economic and educational conditions experienced by the Palestinians in the Palestinian territories, including Occupied Jerusalem, as a result of the Israeli occupation's violations and the policies of systematic Judaization of the city of Jerusalem.

In remarks today, OIC Secretary General Hissein Brahim Taha affirmed that the organisation's general secretariat would continue to strengthen partnerships and mobilize support for Jerusalem, support the steadfastness of its people and build the capacities of its national institutions.

This came during the opening of the preparatory meetings for the 49th session of OIC Foreign Ministers' Council, held in conjunction with the 45th session of the Islamic Committee for Economic, Cultural and Social Affairs at the headquarters of the organization's General Secretariat in Jeddah.

The Secretary-General stated that the reports submitted in the areas related to the work of the committee confirm that the organization has achieved several goals that are in the interest of the nation and its causes, including the field of economic cooperation, as the Trade Preferential System among the Member States of the OIC began in July 2022.

He added that the General Secretariat has put the final touches on the draft concept document for the establishment of the "Islamic Cooperation" platform for preserving and protecting cultural heritage in Member States. (QNA)
