Doha, May 10 (QNA) - Qatar University is preparing to host the third annual meeting of the Academic Network for Development Dialogue (ANDD) on May 18, under the title "Success Stories in Integrating Sustainable Development Goals in Education, Research and Practice," in cooperation with Al-Quds University and the United Nations Economic and Social Commission for Western Asia (ESCWA).

The meeting will discuss several topics, directions and new ideas in the field of ANDD work, highlighting the gaps in strategies and integrating the goals of sustainable development in education, research and practice, the role of the private sector in achieving these goals, and how governmental and non-governmental organizations serve the development goals, in addition to announcing the launch of the second edition of the ANDD research paper series.

The meeting is scheduled to host a group of experts from the State of Qatar and the Arab region to talk about their expertise and experiences in education, research and work in the development field, and about the role of institutions and companies in accelerating the pace of achieving development goals.

In a statement on this occasion, Vice President for Research and Graduate Studies Prof. Mariam Al Maadeed stressed the importance of this meeting to raise the most important issues and developments regarding the sustainable development goals and identify different methods and strategies that have achieved success in implementing these goals in Qatar and the region in general.

ANDD, which was launched two years ago at the QU initiative, includes 36 members from universities and educational institutions in the Arab region and the world, in addition to ESCWA.

It also enjoys the support of the Academic Council on the United Nations System (ACUNS).

ANDD focuses on creating an intellectual sharing process to bridge the national knowledge gap and devote academic expertise and scientific results to support progress toward sustainable development at the national and regional levels in the Arab world.
