Doha, January 11 (QNA) - Qatar defender Hammam Al Amin expressed his delight at being part of the national team to compete in the AFC Asian Cup Qatar 2023, which Doha will host from Jan. 12 to Feb. 10.
The Qatari team will play the opening match of the continental tournament on Friday against the Lebanese team at the Lusail World Cup Stadium as part of Group A, which also includes China and Tajikistan.
The 24-year-old confirmed in a statement that every player dreams of joining the national team and participating in this major continental event, expressing his pride to be present for the first time with the rest of his teammates in this edition.
According to him, the team's technical staff has tried throughout the past to speed up the preparations at all levels and to benefit from the friendly matches, as they look forward to competing in the Asian Cup with the best levels of preparedness.
The player, who is preparing for his first appearance in the Asian Cup finals, reiterated his pleasure to be part of the national team, and commitment to achieve positive results in this tournament as it is held on home soil and among local fans.
Al Amin, who participated in the 2022 World Cup finals, noted that they want to obtain the highest number of points to pass to the quarter-finals, and this starts from the opening match against the Lebanese national team.
He added that the atmosphere of the camp is very positive, and all the players are looking forward to achieving good results, and to spare no effort in reaching the goal.
