Moscow, February 04 (QNA) - Deputy Chairman of the Security Council of the Russian Federation Dmitry Medvedev threatened a quick and strict response, with all kinds of weapons, in the event that Ukraine launches an attack on Russian territory.
In remarks today, Medvedev made threat of retaliatory strikes, saying "There will be no negotiations in this case, only retaliatory strikes ... The whole of Ukraine remaining under Kyiv's rule will burn... Our response may be anything." He explained that Russia does not set any restrictions for itself, and depending on the nature of the threats, "it is ready to use all kinds of weapons, including the basics of nuclear deterrence." Medvedev pointed out that the United States could end the conflict with a signal from it, saying: "If Washington really wants to end the war that it provoked itself, then it can do so." According to the (Basic Principles of State Policy of the Russian Federation on Nuclear Deterrence), Russia's use of nuclear weapons is possible if the "enemy" uses types of weapons of mass destruction against Russia and its allies, and if reliable information is received about launching ballistic missiles and/or all types of weapons that could threaten the existence and security of Russia.
