Dhaka, February 07 (QNA) - Qatar Charity (QC), with the support of philanthropists in Qatar, continued to provide medical health services to thousands of Rohingya refugees in Bangladesh through the center it established in one of the camps in Teknaf, Cox's Bazar, as the number of beneficiaries during the past year reached more than 16,000 refugees.
The refugees receive these various medical services in the health center, which is open throughout the week, with ambulances to transport patients, in addition to the medical staff consisting of doctors, nurses and administrative workers.
Radvi Ahmed, who works as a doctor at the health center, said the center is a kind of community clinic. It provides treatment for many common diseases, and maternity care throughout the week in addition to other services such as providing oxygen, as well as performing minor surgeries.
He added that a patient who requires more intervention is referred to another hospital, and is transported by the center's ambulance when needed, noting that the residents of the area also benefit from the services of this health center.
The refugee beneficiaries expressed their satisfaction with the presence of the health center in the camp, as refugee Sepideh Khatoon said that refugees are very lucky, because QC provides free health services, and when there is need for medical support, the health center provide basic treatment and necessary consultations.
QC launched the "Health Post" initiative to provide health care to refugees in Sep. 2017, when about 800,000 Rohingya refugees fled their areas of Myanmar and sought refuge in Bangladesh.
In the past four years, 80,000 refugees and local residents have received medical services from this health center. QC provides refugees with shelter supplies, clothing and other relief aid in addition to health services. (QNA)
