Crescent Sighting Committee Announces Thursday as First Day of Ramadan

Doha, March 21 (QNA) - The Crescent Sighting Committee at the Ministry of Awqaf and Islamic Affairs announced that tomorrow Wednesday, March 22, is the final day of Sha'ban and that after tomorrow Thursday, March 23, will be the first day of the holy month of Ramadan.

This came in the Committee's statement after its meeting at the headquarters of the Ministry of Awqaf and Islamic Affairs on Tuesday evening under the chairmanship of Sheikh Dr. Thuqail Al Shammari. 

In a statement, the Crescent Sighting Committee at the Ministry of Awqaf and Islamic Affairs said that it held its meeting on Tuesday evening, Shaaban 29, 1444 AH, according to the Qatari calendar corresponding to March 21, 2023, to sight the crescent of the holy month of Ramadan and to prove the testimony of whoever see it.

The Committee said the Ramadan crescent was not sighted and as a result announced that Thursday, March 23, the first of the holy month of Ramadan.

The Committee extended greetings to HH the Amir Sheikh Tamim bin Hamad Al-Thani, HH the Father Amir Sheikh Hamad bin Khalifa Al-Thani, and HH the Deputy Amir Sheikh Abdullah bin Hamad Al-Thani, as well as the esteemed Government, the people of Qatar and all Muslims, on the advent of the holy month of Ramadan.
