Kyrgyz Minister of Economy and Commerce to QNA: Promising Opportunities for Cooperation with Qatar

Bishkek, June 07 (QNA) - HE Minister of Economy and Commerce of the Kyrgyz Republic Daniyar Joldoshevich said that there are major promising opportunities for cooperation in the trade, economic and tourism fields between the Kyrgyz Republic and the State of Qatar, highlighting his country's aspirations to attract Qatari investments in the green energy sector in Kyrgyzstan.

In exclusive statements to Qatar News Agency (QNA), HE Kyrgyz Minister of Economy and Commerce described the visit of HH the Amir Sheikh Tamim bin Hamad Al-Thani to Bishkek as a historic visit, given that His Highness is the first Arab leader to visit Kyrgyzstan, which gives a strong impetus to the relations of cooperation between the two sides and elevates them to levels that benefit the two countries.

His Excellency Joldoshevich emphasized the promising future that awaits commerce and economic cooperation in the field of green energy between the State of Qatar and the Kyrgyz Republic, as the two counties enjoy great potential that paves the way for creating an economic trade partnership that raises the trade exchange and economic cooperation to levels that rise the political relations between the two countries.

He pointed out that HH the Amir's visit will witness the signing of several agreements and memoranda of understanding between the two countries in the fields of commerce, economy and tourism, expressing his hope that the visit will be fruitful and that it will give a new impetus to the relations of cooperation between the State of Qatar, as well as the countries of Central Asia.

The areas of cooperation between the two sides are numerous, he said, underlining a promising opportunity in the field of clean energy. He pointed out Kyrgyzstan's interest in attracting Qatari investors to invest in the field of generating electric energy from solar, water and wind sources.

His Excellency explained that this sector is an important field in his country, adding that work is underway to prepare a study of projects in this aspect to present it to the Qatari side, which has great experience in investing in the field of energy and renewable energies.

HE Minister of Economy and Commerce of the Kyrgyz Republic highlighted a visit that he has paid to the State of Qatar this year, during which he held fruitful meetings with Qatari officials and discussed bilateral cooperation with them, especially within the framework of the economic and commercial cooperation committees between businesspersons in both countries, noting that a second session of economic and commercial dialogue with the Qatari side is expected to be held soon.

His Excellency stressed the importance of opening direct flights between Doha and Bishkek, indicating that it will encourage businesspersons and tourists from both sides to exchange visits and explore opportunities.

He pointed out that he met with HE Qatar Airways Group Chief Executive Akbar Al Baker in Doha to emphasize the importance of opening direct flights linking the two countries.

His Excellency explained that the two agreements signed by the State of Qatar and the Kyrgyz Republic in economic cooperation and the prevention of double taxation are important factors for economic and commercial cooperation, as well as the protection of investments and investors.

He expressed his confidence that the visit of HH the Amir to Bishkek will significantly contribute to increasing the volume of trade exchange between the two countries, noting that the volume trade currently stands at about USD 60 million - a number that does not reflect the distinguished relations between the leaderships of the two countries.

He also pointed out that there are several Qatari businesspersons who are currently investing in the field of services and hospitality in Kyrgyzstan, adding that it is important to launch huge investment projects and increase the volume of trade exchange to a higher level through increased coordination and discussions between the concerned businesspersons and commercial officials in this aspect.

HE Minister of Economy and Commerce of the Kyrgyz Republic concluded his statements to QNA by highlighting his country's aspirations to increase the volume of agricultural products exported to the State of Qatar, as well as animal products such as meat and milk, revealing the establishment of a specialized department in the Ministry of Economy and Commerce for Halal products that meet the standard criteria required by Qatar to import these products, as the department checks the products until they conform to Qatar's standards.
