CGB Wraps Up First Training Program on Leveraging AI in Public Sector

Doha, July 26 (QNA) - The Civil Service and Government Development Bureau (CGB), represented by the Institute of Public Administration, has concluded the first training program: Artificial Intelligence (AI) in the government sector: opportunities and challenges" held within the joint programs initiative of GCC states.

Director of the Institute of Public Administration Raed Ibrahim Al Emadi said the selection of Artificial Intelligence topic by CGB came since AI is no longer representing a world of fantasy but is part of the current reality because of the various AI's potential that contribute to upgrading government services.

Al Emadi affirmed the importance of the joint action among GCC states pertaining to the development of government action and its services, hoping further cooperation soon in quest of transferring expertise, knowledge and lessons learned from the joint experiences in the surrounding region.

At the conclusion of the training program, CGB honored all keynote speakers from government entities in the State of Qatar, alongside participants of the program from GCC states, in appreciation for their active presence and contributions that nurtured the sessions.

The three-day program introduced AI, including its role in optimizing government services, introducing the opportunities and challenges facing decision-makers, in addition to discussing the ethical considerations when using AI and exploring the interconnection between this technology with cybersecurity issues.

In addition, the training program discussed successful models in leveraging AI in the public sector, namely CGB, Ministry of Information and Communications Technology and National Cyber Security Agency.

The joint programs initiative was launched to develop knowledge, expertise and skills of the public sector employees in GCC states, in pursuit of fostering partnership and coordination among GCC states through holding annual programs and workshops alternately among the member states with two training programs per annum for 3 years.
