Doha, February 15 (QNA) - Arrangements for Friday's Doha Marathon by Ooredoo 2024 are now complete, the organizing committee for the marathon that brings together over 13,000 athletes announced Thursday.
The marathon athletes from different age groups will be competing in a full marathon, half marathon, 10-km race, 5-km race and 1-km race.
This year's edition sees the participation of 25 world and Olympic athletes, most notably Moroccan Mouhcine Outalha.
In the women's category, the event will feature Ugandan Rebecca Cheptegei in addition to a number of Qatari runners.
Secretary-General of Qatar Athletics Federation Mohammed Issa Al Fadala highlighted the federation's full partnership with Ooredoo to produce a distinguished marathon after it was ranked 17th out of 170 marathon races in the world.
Al Fadhala said the marathon will be a challenge for them in terms of organization and participation, revealing plans to elevate the marathon to the Platinum category, the highest Association of International Marathons and Distance Races (AIMD) ranking. (QNA)
