Doha, October 26 (QNA) - The Qatar Al-Anabi Racing Top Fuel team, the two-time defending NHRA Full Throttle Top Fuel World Champions is solidly qualified for the Summitracing.com NHRA Nationals on The Strip at Las Vegas Motor Speedway in the United States. After additional Saturday qualifying, the team will compete in Sunday’s elimination rounds. After enduring an extremely hot race track in the first qualifying round, Al-Anabi silver driver Shawn Langdon is the No. 5 qualifier on the strength of a brilliant 3.851-second pass at 321.81 mph recorded in the second round. The track cooled significantly for the second round as the sun dropped below the massive grandstands allowing shade to cool the track. Al-Anabi gold driver Khalid al-Balooshi endured some minor mechanical issues in the first round but rebounded with a stunning 3.897-second pass at 316.45 mph in the second round to take the No. 8 qualifying spot after two rounds. The rookie driver from Dubai has fought a flu-like illness this week, but treatment from track doctors allowed him to compete in qualifying today. Al-Balooshi continued his learning process in Las Vegas in negotiating the 8,000 horse power Top Fuel car down the race track under the hottest conditions of the season so far. Al-Anabi Racing operates out of multiple locations in both the United States and Qatar. In the United States, the Brownsburg, Ind.-based operation is a two-car NHRA Full Throttle Drag Racing Series team that is managed by Alan Johnson Racing. (QNA)
