QF International Boosts Arabic Language Education in Americas
Washington, November 16 (QNA) - Qatar Foundation International (QFI) has unveiled updated features of Al Masdar, an Open Educational Resource platform, to help Arabic language teachers collect and share resources with students.
In a media statement Sunday QFI said it is boosting Arabic-language education jointly with the American Council on the Teaching of Foreign Languages (ACTFL) Convention.
A Qatar Foundation member, QFI will present the updates during an Arabic Resource Swap Shop hosted by QFI at the convention. It is the largest annual foreign language conference in the US.
The swap shop for Arabic curricula and resources will enable educators to share activities, lesson plans, educational games, and strategies, and upload their resources to Al-Masdar.
During the workshop, several master Arabic language teachers will show how to implement useful resources and materials in classrooms.
Participants will also receive a copy of QFI's Madar Al Huruf curriculum, which introduces students to the Arabic alphabet and teaches them how to write in Arabic script.
QFI Executive Director Maggie Mitchell Salem said, "The QFI has provided high-level sponsorship of the annual ACTFL conference since 2011. We are excited to continue our support for this year's conference. We are committed to providing resources to Arabic-language educators and to advancing global citizenship through education."
Continuing to be the primary organization committed to Arabic-language education at ACTFL, QFI brings together 49 Arabic teachers from across the US through its Dora Johnson Travel Awards and Teacher Fellowship grants.
Beyond its role as a convener, QFI will host a Teacher Fellow workshop as part of its ongoing commitment to professional development within the field of K-12 Arabic education.
QFI has supported 26 in-school Arabic language and culture programmes across the Americas. (QNA)
