London, March 10 (QNA) - Qatar Airways has purchased the Sheraton Skyline hotel in the UK, one of the best-located hotels for travellers using Heathrow Airport and a perfect base for a trip into central London or the rest of England. The hotel will continue to be managed by Starwood under the Sheraton brand.

The Sheraton Skyline is the first hotel to be bought by Qatar Airways outside of Qatar, where it owns the five-star Oryx Rotana Hotel in Doha and runs the new Hamad International Airport Hotel, which includes squash courts and a swimming pool.

The Sheraton Skyline, a four-star property situated in Bath Road and just a short shuttle journey from all of the terminals at Heathrow Airport, has 350 guest bedrooms, including Club Rooms with access to the Sheraton Club featuring complimentary breakfast and high-speed internet access.

All of the bedrooms (which have the largest size in hotels around Heathrow) are fully soundproofed and feature LCD flat-screen TVs. Car rental is also available from the hotel for travel to/from Heathrow. The 300+ car park offers "Park & Fly" facility, for the convenience of travellers.

One of the Sheraton Skyline’s best-known features is the Sky Garden, a spectacular social space, where families can relax by the swimming pool or where business meetings can be held – in a tropical setting that is unique amongst all hotels around Heathrow.

The tropical setting of the Sky Bar is a perfect place to unwind with a cocktail. The hotel also has a choice of dining venues ranging from casual dining at the Sports Bar & Grill to the renowned Indian cuisine of Madhu’s Heathrow.

Qatar Airways has embarked on a strategy to expand into the hotel business, delivering five-star quality to guests staying in hotels as well as travelling on its modern fleet. The purchase of the Sheraton Skyline is part of that strategy which is expected to include further hotels in North America, the United Kingdom and elsewhere.

HE Akbar Al Baker, Group Chief Executive of Qatar Airways, commented: "The Sheraton Skyline hotel is an excellent addition to our travel offering, complementing our five-star hotel the Oryx Rotana in Doha, and making it easy for passengers who wish to spend some time in London before travelling further." Qatar Airways has won many awards for the quality of its service in the skies, including World’s Best Business Class at the latest Business Traveller Awards in 2014. (QNA)
